Department of Computer Science

Started in the year 2012, Computer Science is the first Science Department of NMSM College offering an undergraduate program in Computer Science. This is the only Government college in Calicut and Wayanad district offering the BSc Computer Science course, contributing significantly to the students of Wayanad, Calicut, and Kannur districts. The complementary courses are Physics and Mathematics. The Department has adequate facilities including a Smart Digital Lab and Physics Lab. All the classrooms are fully digitized with SMART interactive displays. The entire Department is powered by uninterrupted power supplies, ensuring 24×7 backup for the electronic equipment. An air-conditioned EDUSAT Enabled Conference Hall (E2CH) is also available in the Department for video conferencing, ORICE, and training purposes.

The Department of Computer Science offers a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program starting from 2024. The curriculum includes a three-year B.Sc. in Computer Science, a four-year B.Sc. (Honours) in Computer Science, and a four-year B.Sc. (Honours) with Research. The department provides specializations in cutting-edge fields such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML), and Cloud Computing. Additionally, it offers minor courses tailored for students from other departments, fostering interdisciplinary learning and enhancing technical proficiency across various domains.
