Department of Physics

The Department of Physics was started in the year 2012 as a complimentary course of the BSc Computer Science programme. Currently, Physics is also a complimentary course for the BSc Chemistry programme. The Physics Department has a well-equipped lab for complimentary practicals, which is powered by proper Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) to ensure 24×7 backup for the electronic equipment.

As the part of FYUGP introduced in 2024, Department of Physics offers two Minor courses and one Multidisciplinary course (MDC). The minors offered by the department are (1) Material science and (2) Semiconductor physics. Both courses include theory and practical. Minor course consists of three papers in the first three semesters of the UG course. Any student who completed a 100-level course (+2 level) can join for these courses. The MDC offered by the department is Physics in everyday life. MDC has two papers in the first two semesters of the UG course. Students of all disciplines (even though they have not studied physics in +2 level) can enroll to this course.
